Wadi, the second farm

After two days of jaunts, the crew desired some time at home base. Pauline and I drove to Wadi. Their 2nd farm. A meer 600 to 700 acres. Unlike Kayanaba which has been farmed for generations of Roberts, Wadi is new ground and quite a bit wilder. They are planting some oats, but there is not as much livestock on it. There are apparently herds of kangaroos, however they decided to sleep in while I was there. Of course, there were the usual Galahs, 28s, and a myriad of birds, I could not name. We did flush out a grouse with fanned out tail. Alas, I was not quick to capture that on film. Huge numbers of wild flowers!

The last people to live at Wadi, were the griggsons. It was a functional house till the 1980's. Now nature has taken it over.

Oats and harvest

I enjoyed tramping through the scrub and finding so many types of flowers. The white in the picture above is smoke bush. Below is a Banksia bloom.

I will punctuate other entries with some of the flowers from Wadi

We arrived back for lunch and to prepare for a seafood dinner party. We met several neighbors and Pauline's dad. It was great fun wit at least 5 chefs. The main feature was a large barrimondi an Australian freshwater fish with moist white flesh.

We ate and drank with gusto. Robbi who is a gifted guitarist with a lovely voice sang and made us laugh.

A kangaroo paw to end this entry.
